Malee's Thai Bistro - Scottsdale, AZ
Located in old town Scottsdale Malee's Thai Bistro was stared by Deirdre Pain who opened this restaurant in August of 1987, Malee’s on Main opened. They started small, serving about 20 dinners a night. In October of that year a review from restaurant critic Elin Jeffords was put out and customers started to flock over as they began to serve 120 dinners a night.
Started with the Fresh Summer Rolls,
The rice paper wrapper was over cooked and sticky.
The chicken was dry, and the shrimp was over cooked. The Thai basil and mint does bring a much needed flavor to this rather bland dish.
They do give you Hoisin Sauce and a suratcha like hot sauce to dip into but doesn’t help much
My main was the Crispy Mango Fish,
On this night they used was a 10 oz catfish filet and it was so mild you would not know it was catfish in any way.
The fish was dusted in a very light cornstarch before being fried.
The topping of onion, mango, toasted coconut and cilantro makes this dish in every way. The sweet tamarind sauce on the bottom and also drizzled onto cuts the cornstarch and bends the toasted coconut and mango in a perfect harmony.
The added use of ginger and lemongrass is not noticeable but if it is there its do delicate you can not taste it.
THIS FISH DISH IS ONE OF THE BEST MEALS I HAVE HAD IN A VERY LONG TIME AND DO ADVISE ANYONE TO TRY THIS PLACE OUT!
